GALENA, KS —

Waymeth Elnora Cantrell, age 89, passed away at 6:18 a.m.  Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Galena Nursing and Rehabilitation  Center following an illness.

She was born April 8, 1923, in Galena. Her parents were Andrew Olin and Rosalie Maide (Clifton) Shetley.   

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Miami, Okla. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery.

Waymeth was married to Eugene Clair Cantrell on Aug. 21, 1943, in Columbus, Kan. He survives.

Surviving is one niece she raised as her own, Kaitlyn Welch; one nephew, Jerry Brown; her brother, John Shetley, Galena; several extended relatives and a host of friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers,  Garland Shetley, Mack Shetley, Courtland Shetley, Clifton Shetley, Lewis Shetley, Olin Shetley and Richard Shetley; and three sisters, Ena Brown, Cecile Shetley and Coralea  Mallatt.

Waymeth was taken for cremation under the care of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. No services are planned at this time.
