Ruby E. Spiva Baker

WHEATON, Mo. —

 

Ruby E. Spiva Baker, 71, Wheaton, Mo., died Feb. 11, 2012, at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, after a strong and courageous battle with cancer.

Ruby was born April 21, 1940, in Stella, Mo., the 10th of 12 children born to Everett and Ruby (Lentz) Spiva. She was a lifelong area resident and had worked at the Wheaton Bank for 27 years and was a member of Stella United Methodist Church.

Ruby met her husband, Bob, when she was in the 8th grade and 58 years later, they were still going strong.

Bob survives of the home and additional survivors include a daughter, Sherry Baker Ellison; her son, Kendall Baker and wife, Doreen; five granddaughters, Krystal Ellison, Courtney Ellison, Amanda Baker Wolfe and husband, Brandon, Tabitha Baker Holmes and husband, Steve and Johanna Baker Rowe; six great-grandchildren, Kyler Ellison, Braxton Wolfe, Wyatt Holmes, Aidan Wolfe, Kaylea Holmes and Gracen Harrison; three sisters, Christine Sartain, Patsy Kruse and Carolyn Hatfield; two brothers, Howard “Doc” Spiva and Albert Spiva; brother-in-law, Bill Baker and wife, Helen; and numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Spiva, J.C. Spiva and Ray Spiva; three sisters, Theresa Laudenslager, Maudine Johnson and Chloe Woolard; and a grandson-in-law, Matt Rowe.

She will be missed, but never forgotten. We love you Nannie.

Services will be Thursday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby. Brother John Henry will officiate. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Russell Kruse, Terry Kruse, Larry Kruse, Danny Hatfield, H.C. Woolard and Dennis Woolard. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Dale Spiva, Lonnie Woolard, Donnie Woolard, Sheldon Baker, Joey Spiva, Randy Spiva and Allen Spiva. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby, on Wednesday from noon until 7:30 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 pm to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Barry County Chapter of the American Cancer Society in care of Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 26, Granby.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Granby.
