JOPLIN, Mo. — Laurenn Diane (Thomas) Ames, 61, was born Feb. 2, 1952, and went to be with her heavenly Father on Feb. 17, 2013. She passed away after a long illness.

She is survived by her husband of almost 26 years, Gary Ames, of Joplin; She is also survived by her daughter, Cristy Buerge, of Joplin; one brother, Dr. Michael Thomas, of Waco, Texas; and one sister, Mardell Rouse, of Joplin; five grandchildren; and one greatgrandson. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Harriet Thomas.

Laurenn was active in nursing home ministry and worked as an aide for the CP center. She was a special individual who would do whatever she could to help others and she never knew a stranger.

God called home one of his greatest angels and she will be greatly missed. She is now free from her illness and enjoying a great reunion with loved ones who have gone before.

A memorial service will be on held on Sunday, Feb. 24, at Central Christian Center in Joplin at 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Central Christian Center.
