BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. —
Hazel Mae Edens, 94, of Baxter Springs, Kan., died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
Born on a farm near Buffalo, Kan., on Sept. 15, 1918, Hazel was the daughter of Daniel Brinkley and Irene (Orendorff) Brinkley.
Married to Jack Edens on Dec. 2, 1945, she and Jack ran Edens' Grocery and Market on the corner of 12th and Wyandotte in Baxter Springs for 33 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Edens; and an older brother, Robert Brinkley.
Hazel is survived by her only child, Bill Edens and wife, Jane; grandchildren, Dori (Edens) Maloney and husband, Danial Maloney and Zach Edens; a younger brother, Clark Brinkley and wife, Ruth; sister-in-law, Lois Brinkley; a niece and two nephews.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at First Presbyterian Church in Baxter Springs. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Gantt.
