Jacque M. Scammon

TULSA, Okla. — Jacque M. Scammon, age 94, passed away at 2:17 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at her home following an illness.

Jacque was born Aug. 22, 1918, in Columbus, Kan. Her parents were Henry and Edith (Chubb) Augustus. She had lived in Tulsa since 2007, moving from Columbus, where she had lived most of her life.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Columbus. She had also been a member of the Jayhawk Gals, the PEO of Columbus, the Columbus Country Club, and had been the Cherokee County Chairman of the Kansas Crippled Children Society for several years. She used to play the violin, and enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing.

Jacque was married to John Scammon on Dec. 31, 1940, in Joplin, Mo. He preceded her in death Dec. 28, 2007.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Jon Scammon.

Surviving is one son, Jed (and Connie) Scammon, Jenks, Okla.; one daughter-in-law, Katy Hays, Columbus; three grandchildren, Manda (and Zachary) Thompson, Kechi, Kan., Chock Scammon, Columbus, and Craig (and Tisha) Scammon, Bixby, Okla.; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus. Rev. Roger Beason will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Columbus. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
