CARTHAGE, MO —
Helen Hazel (McGrew) Potter, 96, passed away in her home on Dec. 13, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born Oct. 17, 1916, in Carterville, Mo., to Mable Myrtle (Ludy) McGrew and Marion William McGrew. Helen graduated Carthage High School Class of 1936, and was a lifetime Jasper county resident. Helen was a member of the Center Point Christian Church. She was a member of the Jasper County Extension Club. Helen was a homemaker.
Helen was united in marriage to Earl William Potter on May 13, 1938, in Carthage, Mo. Earl preceded her in death May 5, 1996.
Helen is survived by three daughters, Jane Brooks and husband, Ken, of Springfield, Mo., Mary Jo Hoofnagle and husband, Larry, of Camden Point, Mo., and Patricia Ann Replogle and husband, Dean, of Carthage; one son, Charles Potter and wife, Pat, of Carthage; one sister-in-law, Mildred (Midge) McGrew; eight grandchildren, Debra Riner, Carla Cordaway, Deanna Smith, Dennis Replogle, Melissa Barlet, Brian Potter, Kari Hoofnagle and Kristopher Hoofnagle; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Marion Vincente McGrew and John Nathan McGrew; and five sisters, Mary August (McGrew) Kenner, Edith Doris (McGrew) Hicks, Ruth Alberta (McGrew) Kirk, Willa Lee (McGrew) Fingerly and Emma Elorna (McGrew) Scott.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery Joplin, Mo.
