WEBB CITY —
WEBB CITY, Mo. — Celia E. Sims, age 76, of Webb City, Mo., passed away at 6:05 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, following two months of ill health.
Celia was born Nov. 24, 1933, in Snyder, Neb. She moved to Webb City in 2004, from Mexico, where her daughter and son-in-law were missionaries. She retired in 1993, as a certified registered nurse anesthetist, having worked in Clinton, Iowa, from 1963 until 1987. Celia was a member of Christ’s Church of Oronogo, where she was a volunteer in the Medical Ministry and was active in the Young At Heart Group.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra Calderon and husband, Gildardo, Webb City; three granddaughters, Erica Stark and husband, Thomas, Megan Calderon and Amanda Calderon; and one great-granddaughter, Gabriela Stark.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Christ’s Church of Oronogo Chapel with Ken Ansley, Minister, officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions are requested to the Ozark Christian College Library, or the Mexican Missionary Organization in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home, of Webb City.
