SARCOXIE, MO — Mrs. Margaret Ann Kinney, 80, of Sarcoxie, Mo., departed this life on Tuesday evening, Sept. 7, 2010, at her home after several months of declining health. Margaret was born on Jan. 28, 1930, in Peru, Kan., to the late Raymond and Cleota (Alberty) Smith. Her formative years were spent in Mount Vernon and Sarcoxie, Mo. Early in her life she worked at Juvenile Shoe Factory and later owned and operated Ann¹s Beauty Shop both in Sarcoxie. On Sept. 10, 1968, she was united in marriage to Richard L. Kinney and together they shared the last 42 years. She enjoyed oil painting and was a gifted seamstress. Margaret¹s life was centered around the needs of her family. We celebrate her life and look forward to that day of our reunion in Glory. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first and second husbands, James Lee ³Bud² Snow and James Raymond Nordstrom; and two siblings, Mary Jean Tindell and Kenneth Leroy Smith. Margaret is survived by her husband, Richard L. Kinney, of the home; four daughters, Cary Schroers and husband, Mike, of Midlothian, Texas, Thea Lawrence and husband, Bryan, of Republic, Mo., Leigh Ann Hartman and husband, Scott, of Joplin, Mo., and Shelly Thomas and husband, Bill, of Miami, Okla.; four sons, James Mark Snow and wife, Carol, of Piedmont, Okla., Mike Kinney of Sarcoxie, Blaine Nordstrom and wife, Janice, of Village Mills, Texas, and Dale Kinney, of Sarcoxie; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Neil Smith and wife, Nina, of Joplin, and Gale Smith, of Grove, Okla.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Kinney are at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, in the chapel of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home with Chaplain Mark Shaffer officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery in rural Sarcoxie. Her grandsons will honor her life by serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Sooter, Mike Boswell, Larry Turner and Steve Fieker. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to Regional Hospice and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
