JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplin

~ Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 204 N. School St., will celebrate Pastor Samuel Nero Jr. and his wife’s third pastoral anniversary on Sunday.

The theme of the appreciation service is “Anointed by the spirit to preach” (Isaiah 61:1)

The gust speaker at the 11 a.m. worship service will be the Rev. Michael Riddick, associate minister of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Houston, Texas. The Shiloh choir will provide music.

The afternoon service at 3:30 p.m. will feature guest speaker the Rev. Samuel Nero Sr., pastor of Second Baptist Church, Independence. His church choir will furnish the music.

Dinner will be served from 1 to 3 p.m.

~ Special music for the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 509 S. Pearl Ave., will be     presented by Gloria Jardon, harpist.

“SonQuest Rainforest”     vacation Bible school for     children ages 3 years old through fourth grade will be held from 9 a.m. to noon     Monday through Friday. July 19-23.  Music, art and drama classes for     children in fifth through     seventh grade also will be offered during this time.

~ South Joplin Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, and Byers Avenue United Methodist Church will host vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday July 19-23 in the fellowship hall at South Joplin Christian Church, 1901 Pearl Ave.

The theme will be “Who is My Neighbor?” The event is for     3-year-olds through adults. Activities will include stories, projects, games and snacks. South Joplin Christian Church opens and closes vacation Bible school each night.

~ Bethel Worship Center, 1840 N. Range Line Road, will hold vacation Bible school from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. July 19 through 22

The theme is “Kids Praise” and is centered around teaching children different aspects of praise and worship. There will be games, snacks, Bible stories, crafts, and music as the children learn about who Jesus Christ is and ways to praise and worship Him.

Bethel Worship Center is in the Blue Water Landing across from Del Rio.

~ “High Seas Expedition” is the theme of the vacation Bible school scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2423 W. 26th St.

The event is for children age 3 through fifth grade.

A $10 donation per child (maximum $25 per family) is requested to cover T-shirts and supplies.

~ Vacation Bible school is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, July 26-30, at First United Methodist Church, 501 W. Fourth St.

Bible school activities are for children age 4 to fifth grade. The theme will be “Egypt Ñ Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace.” Activities will include the marketplace shops, games, dancing to Bible songs, and refreshments. There is no charge.

Lamar

~ The Signature Quartet will be in concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 800 Jefferson St.

Nathan Terry began the group in the 1990s after his return from a tour with the Air Force. Other members of the group are Jason Perry, Jackson Knight, Darrel Morton, Doug Clifton and Adam Rasmussen. They perform Christian and gospel music and have written many of the songs they sing.

The family concert is open to the public. A love offering will be taken.

Pittsburg, Kan.

~ Willie Murillo will be guest speaker at a banquet meeting today July 17 of the Full Gospel     Business Men’s Fellowship International, Pittsburg Chapter No. 650.

The meal begins at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting is set for 7:15 p.m. at the Lamplighter Inn, 4020 Parkview Drive. The cost is $7 a person. Reservations are required.

Murillo has been associate pastor of Sheffield Life Center in Kansas City since 1989. He also has served several ministries at the church, including operation Love Outreach, a mass food distribution in partnership with Harvesters Food Bank that reaches the northeast community area.

~ The Now Revolution     Conference is scheduled at 7 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday at Grove Christian Center.
