The Cowskin Prairie Book Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 27 at the Community Center (also known as City Hall) in Grove, Okla.
At the free festival, visitors will have a chance to meet regional authors and buy their personally-signed books. Some books are fiction while others are non-fiction.
A few of the topics are genealogy, mystery, military, history, romance and inspiration. Levels vary from children to young adults and older.
Several books are about Oklahoma. Members of the Delaware County Genealogical Society will be selling their books “History of Delaware County” and “History of Schools in Delaware County.”
Joyce Gibson will be selling her book “Historic Sailboat Bridge.” Luretta Williams will have her book about the town of Narcissa.
William Welge, Director of the Oklahoma Historical Society Research Division at Oklahoma City, will be selling books about Oklahoma history. Velda Brotherton, a well-known author of books about the people of the Boston Mountains will also be there. I’ll be selling my book “Bushwhackers, Visions, Star-Crossed Lovers,” which has true stories about Ozark families in both Missouri and Arkansas.
Civil War historians will enjoy meeting Steve Cottrell, who will be selling his books about that time period. Genealogy how-to books will be available from Fredrea Cook and Carrie Cook. More than 30 other authors will also be at the festival.
