Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has scheduled two campaign stops today in the Joplin region.
Huckabee is to speak at rallies at 4 p.m. at Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport and at 7 p.m. at Springfield-Branson National Airport.
Former President Bill Clinton is to campaign for his wife Saturday in Springfield, and Matt Romney is to campaign for his father Sunday in Joplin.
GOP candidates John McCain and Mitt Romney and Democratic contenders Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama all will make stops either Saturday or Sunday in the St. Louis area in advance of Super Tuesday voting.
At least 100 supporters from the Joplin area will attend the Huckabee rally in Springfield, according to Jimmy Morris, a local campaign worker.
He said some residents will be working as volunteers at the event, helping to set up the site and direct traffic.
“It will be at the OzAir hangar, and there will be signs and people to direct traffic,” Morris said. “Some parking will be close, but we’re also working to arrange shuttle buses.”
Details about Huckabee’s stop in Northwest Arkansas had not been announced late Thursday; the campaign had scheduled appearances in Oklahoma City and Tulsa for earlier in the day.
Details about former President Clinton’s campaign stop Saturday in Springfield also had not been completed as of late Thursday.
Volunteers also were working to firm up details for a Joplin stop by Matt Romney on behalf of his father on Sunday.
The appearance tentatively is scheduled between 2 and 4 p.m. and will be at a local business, according to Nicholas Ritchie, a local campaign volunteer.
Matt Romney, 36, is one of five sons of the candidate. He is in business in San Diego, Calif., and is a graduate of Brigham Young University and Harvard Business School.
