The Pittsburg State Gorillas earned a sweep of the Lincoln Blue Tigers.
Pitt State’s men crushed Lincoln 85-63, while PSU’s women pulled away for a 68-59 victory Thursday night at Jason Gym.
Rico Pierrevilus led the Gorilla men with 18 points off the bench. Pitt State guard Courtney Ingram had 16 points and 13 rebounds. JaVon McGee scored 12, while Marky Nolen contributed 11.
Pierrevilus was 5 of 8 from the field and 8 of 9 from the free-throw line. Ingram was 7 of 11 from the field.
The Gorillas pulled away despite a 2-for-14 night from 3-point range.
Pitt State (11-2 overall, 4-1 MIAA) also earned the win despite a 31-point night from Lincoln guard Cedrick Ridle, who was 10 of 23 from the field and 8 of 11 from the line.
Lincoln dropped to 2-13 overall and 1-4 in the MIAA.
Pitt State women 68, Lincoln 59
Pitt State sophomore Lizzy Jeronimus led the Gorilla women with 25 points, making 9 of 16 from the field and 7 of 9 from the free-throw line.
The Gorillas held a narrow 32-26 halftime lead, but Jeronimus scored 16 of her 25 points in the second half.
Morgan Westhoff and Drew Roberts also scored in double figures for Pitt State, contributing 11 and 10, respectively.
Lauren Brown led the Gorillas inside with 11 rebounds and two blocked shots to go along with seven points.
Jackeya Mitchell led Lincoln with 13 points, while Dahila Booker (12), Arriana Walker (10) and Quiessence Price (10) also scored in double figures.
Pitt State won its fourth consecutive game to improve to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the MIAA. The Gorillas will travel to face Central Missouri at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Lincoln dropped to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the MIAA.
