Missouri Southern defensive tackle Brandon Williams and Pittsburg State return specialist John Brown and linebacker Nate Dreiling all received second-team recognition on the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America football team.
They were among 10 players from MIAA schools on the team, which was announced Tuesday and determined by a vote of sports information directors.
First-team honors went to Missouri Western running back Michael Hill, who is a finalist for the Harlon Hill Award, which will be announced Friday, and Northwest Missouri State safety Nate DeJong.
Also making the second team were Emporia State tight end Adam Schlitz, Missouri Western offensive lineman Macon Allan and defensive lineman David Bass, Northwest Missouri linebacker Collin DeBuysere and cornerback Brandon Dixon.
Williams and Brown were named to the coaches All-America team on Monday.
Williams had 68 tackles this season, including 8.5 quarterback sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss. He ranked third in the nation in forced fumbles (5).
Brown compiled 2,000 all-purpose yards to rank first in the MIAA and second in the nation.
Dreiling recorded 83 stops and led the Gorillas’ defense in tackles for the third straight season. He had 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, two interceptions and seven pass breakups.
