Pittsburg State women’s basketball coach Lane Lord announced the signing of Maize High School guard Paige Lungwitz on Thursday.
Lungwitz, a 5-foot-10 guard, is a two-time all-state honoree and helped her team to a 22-3 record and a sub-state title as a junior. She averaged 15 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3 steals.
She also was a two-time state medalist in tennis and helped her team to four regional titles. Her father, Craig Lungwitz, is the boys basketball coach at Maize High School.
“Paige is a talented combo guard,” Lord said in a release. “She has the ability to play multiple positions, is a good 3-point shooter and drives the ball well.”
Pitt State also officially announced the signing of Girard High School guard Hadyn Herlocker, who inked her letter of intent on Wednesday. The 5-6 point guard averaged 19.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 3.3 steals as a junior for the Trojans.
“Hadyn is a great 3-point shooter and has exceptional ability to create her own shot,” Lord said. “It is always a bonus for us to be able to add local players to our roster and we look forward to her joining our team.”
Lungwitz and Herlocker will join the Gorillas for the 2013-14 season.
