PITTSBURG, Kan. —
Lizzy Jeronimus scored 21 of her game-high 25 points in the second half to lead the Pittsburg State Gorillas to a 71-65 win against Quincy on Saturday at John Lance Arena.
Pitt State (5-1), which was coming off a 68-66 loss to William Jewell, trailed Quincy 32-25 at halftime.
The Gorillas shot only 11-for-31 (35.5 percent) from the field in the first half, but regrouped to make 14 of 25 shots (56 percent) in the second half.
Jeronimus was 2-for-5 in the first half, but she made 5 of 6 field goals and 11 of 11 free throws in the second. Morgan Westhoff added 10 points for the Gorillas.
The Hawks (1-5) were led by 20 points from forward Kelly Buresh.
Felisha Loggins and Maggie Cunningham scored 12 and 10, respectively.
The Gorillas open MIAA action at home on Thursday against Central Oklahoma.
