Attorney General turns prosecution of teens back to locals -- Charge dismissed against Riverton student

The Kansas Attorney General’s office has dismissed a charge of solicitation to commit first-degree murder against Riverton High School student James Tillman, 16. The state had filed the charge in connection with an alleged-school shooting plot.

Tillman’s attorney, Sam Marsh, said he received word of the dismissal Thursday morning. It had been the most serious charge against any of the five Riverton students charged in connection with the alleged plot.

All five students have two felony charges remaining against them.

The Kansas Attorney General’s office has turned prosecution of the case against five Riverton High School students charged in an alleged school-shooting plot over to Cherokee County Attorney Michael Goodrich, said Jan Lunsford, spokesman for Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline.
