Webb City swimmers

erase school records

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Webb City erased three school records and Molly Brown won the backstroke to highlight the Cardinals’ swimming effort on Saturday in the Ozarks Invitational at Foster Natatorium.

Brown, a senior, won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.58 to prevent a sweep of the 12 events by either Springfield Glendale or Blue Springs.

Webb City was sixth among 18 teams with 143 points. Finishing ahead of the Cardinals were Glendale (497), Blue Springs (360.5), Springfield Kickapoo (252), Springfield Central (216) and Columbia Rock Bridge (205).

Joplin placed ninth with 87 points and Carthage tied for 12th with 50. Lamar and Nevada tallied 6 and 2, respectively.

Webb City freshman Erica Logal logged a 1:18.03 in the breaststroke for one of the records.
