CARTHAGE, Mo. — Josh Mason and Clint Spencer each registered their 25th victory of the season as Carthage defeated Joplin 50-24 Tuesday night in a rescheduled prep dual wrestling match.

Mason, 125-pounder, improved to 25-2 with a 15-9 decision over Caleb Friend, and Spencer received a forfeit at 130, raising his unblemished record to 25-0.

The Tigers, 4-3 in duals, received pins from Zach Hensley at 119 pounds, Seth Golay at 140, Garrett Buzzard at 189, Nelson Horton at 215 and Erick Vargas at heavyweight.

The Eagles, 10-3, scored their points on three pins and a forfeit.

The Eagles’ pins were by Brycen Miner at 103, Josh Hutching at 152 and Brian White at 160. Miner’s record improved to 14-3, Hutching 11-4 and White 9-5.

Miles Copple, the Eagles’ 171-pounder, was 18-1 after winning by forfeit, and Tyler Fortson (215) and Caleb Friend (125) were both 12-5 after losing their matches.

Dual matches on Thursday pair Seneca at Joplin and Carthage at Nevada. Junior varsity matches begin at 6.

Webb City 65, Nevada 15

WEBB CITY, Mo. — The host Cardinals logged four pins and received five forfeits against Nevada.

Webb City received pins from Ryan Clark at 130, Justin Landes at 135, Richard Rodgers at 140 and Justin Jacks at 189. Landes improved his season record to 21-3, Rodgers 18-4 and Jacks 21-4.

Patrick Grigsby is 24-2 after a major decision at 125 pounds, and Cody Jolly is 20-6 after a forfeit at 103.

In the middle weights, Nevada’s Scotty Bough and Todd Brier posted pins at 145 and 160, respectively.

The Cardinals have another home match Thursday against Neosho, starting with the junior varsity bouts at 6 p.m.
