sports@joplinglobe.com SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Ozark Christian College men’s basketball team, tied with St. Louis Christian at the half, turned it on defensively in the second half, OCC coach Chris Lahm said. The result was a 70-52 victory for the Ambassadors in the NCCAA Division II Central Regional Tournament at Central Bible on Thursday. Third-seeded OCC, 22-14, faces second-seeded CBC at 7:30 tonight in the semifinals. Top-seeded Manhattan Christian plays No. 4 Baptist Bible at 5:30 in the first semifinal. Lahm said the Ambassadors moved from the tie (30-30) to lead 70-45 with two minutes remaining. “We struggled a bit today on offense,” Lahm said. “But we got it done in the second half on defense (a man-to-man).” Travis Roberts powered the Ambassadors with 22 points and nine rebounds. Derek Lahm added 11 points. Fred Lundien, who had seven rebounds, led in assists with four and Marcus Moeller led in steals with three. The Soldiers received 18 points on 9-of-16 shooting from Mike Williams and 19 on 9-of-14 accuracy from Nathan Loker. Williams and Loker also snared eight rebounds apiece. OCC (7-for-15 beyond the arc) hit 28-of-54 overall from the field to St. Louis Christian’s 22-of-61. The Soldiers trailed 35-33 on the boards and committed more turnovers, 14-9. Coach Lahm said Clancy Allmoslecher and Brant Smith performed well in reserve roles. “Brant hit a couple of big 3s. Clancy gave us a spark by doing a good job handling the ball and playing defense.” Coach Lahm said the Ambassadors have split two games with CBC this season.
