An e-mail from Karen Fulp usually means there’s a stock car racing program coming up involving the Show-Me Racin’ Series.
But not this week.
“ ‘Race Day Sunday’ is this Sunday,” Fulp said of the event held since 2003 at West Division Street Baptist Church in Springfield. “We invite drivers, fans, everyone to come out. Start your 2008 racing season off right.”
“It’s a wonderful day of Sunday School and a unique Church Service that is ‘geared’ toward the racing crowd,” Bob Allen, an organizer of the event, said. “The day starts at 9:45 (a.m.) with Sunday School
“The Church Service begins at 11 and our guest, David Martin, opens the Bible in a way most have never experienced,” Allen said.
Martin is a race track chaplain with On Track Ministries in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Allen said that after service everyone moves to the parking lot to see all the cars and eat freshly prepared track food. The car show is open to everyone and any type of vehicle.
People need to register their vehicle by 9:30 a.m., Allen said.
Allen can be reached at (417) 299-0057. Fulp is available at (417) 723-1035 or 880-9693.
