Gorillas set times for football

PITTSBURG, Kan. — The annual U.S. Cellular Miner’s Bowl will again be a night game, and The Fall Classic at Arrowhead has a later start in 2008.

Pittsburg State announced tentative starting times Friday for its 11-game football schedule.

After nonconference road games against Central Oklahoma and Chadron State (Neb.), the Gorillas entertain Missouri Southern at 6 p.m. on Sept. 13 to conclude Family Day activities.

The Gorillas’ other four games at Carnie Smith Stadium will kick off at 2 — vs. Central Missouri on Sept. 27 for Hall of Fame Day, Truman State on Oct. 11, Nebraska-Omaha for homecoming on Oct. 18 and Washburn on Nov. 1.

The Gorillas and Northwest Missouri State will play at Arrowhead Stadium for the seventh consecutive year. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m., the latest start since the first year when it began at 7.

The PSU schedule:

Aug. 30 — at Central Oklahoma, 6 p.m.

Sept. 6 — at Chadron State (Neb.), 1 p.m.

Sept. 13 — Missouri Southern, 6 p.m.

Sept. 20 — at Missouri Western, 6 p.m.

Sept. 27 — Central Missouri, 2 p.m.

Oct. 4 — vs. Northwest Missouri State (Fall Classic at Arrowhead VII), 5 p.m.

Oct. 11 — Truman State, 2 p.m.
