Prep roundup: Eagles soccer team exacts revenge on Wildcats Carl Junction 10, Cassville 8
CASSVILLE, Mo. — Carl Junction scored two runs in the fourth and held off Cassville in Big 8 Conference action. Bulldog pitcher Zak Porath did damage on the hill and with the bat. Porath struck out 12 and scattered five singles in seven innings. Porath also led off the game with a home run. The Bulldogs scored four in the top of the first and Cassville followed with six runs of its own. The Wildcats took an 8-4 lead in the second, but the Bulldogs tied the game with four unearned runs in the third and scored two more in the fourth. Carl Junction’s John Michael and Bart Cacepardo collected two hits apiece. Cassville’s Corey Howard had a hit and two RBI. Monett 7, Lamar 0 MONETT, Mo. — Jake Hobbs threw a four-hitter while striking out nine and walking two in a Big 8 Conference matchup. Brendon Cox (two RBI), Michael Roberts and Spenser Witt had two hits apiece to lead the Cubs (7-3, 2-0). For Lamar (2-8, 0-1), Ross Means had a pair of hits and pitcher Colton Higgins went the distance. Purdy 11, Sarcoxie 1 PURDY, Mo. — Purdy plated five runs in the second inning to whip Sarcoxie. Purdy’s Ryan Veith pounded two hits and had two RBI, and Spencer Terry added a triple and four RBI to the mix. Mason Roller (2-1) pitched for the Eagles and allowed a run on five hits with six strikeouts. Austin Gardner led Sarcoxie with a pair of hits. Wheaton 5, Southwest 4
