Jaryd Gregory signed to run cross country and track for NCAA Division I University of Missouri-Kansas City. Gregory has earned all-state honors at both 1600 and 3200 meters and was the Tigers’ high point track athlete his junior year. He also played football and basketball for the Tigers. sports@joplinglobe.com Four Carthage High School athletes signed letters-of-intent on Friday afternoon in the high school auditorium. Jaryd Gregory signed to run cross country and track for NCAA Division I University of Missouri-Kansas City. Gregory has earned all-state honors at both 1600 and 3200 meters and was the Tigers’ high point track athlete his junior year. He also played football and basketball for the Tigers. Josiah Coen will run cross country and track for Southwest Baptist of the MIAA. He finished third in the Southwest Conference 800 meters last season and has two top-10 conference and district finishes in cross country. Also at the NCAA Division II level, Katrina Westhoff has signed a volleyball letter with Drury University in Springfield. She was a four-year letter-winner in volleyball and earned first team all-conference and all-district honors. She also was a co-captain two years on the basketball team. Austen Heidlage will continue his wrestling career at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kan. He posted a 140-41 career record at Carthage, capped by a 189-pound state championship this year. He holds school career records for pins (98) and team points (782.5). He also holds the single-season team points record and shares the record for most pins in a season. He also played football and participated in track and field for the Tigers. PSU signs 2 Pittsburg products Pittsburg High School basketball player Sean Stotler and horizontal jumper Roylan Rountree-Garcia are staying in town after signing with Pittsburg State. Stotler, 6-foot-1 senior, averaged 14.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists as the Purple Dragons finished 17-5. He shot 49 percent from the field and 68 percent from the free-throw line. Stotler started the last three years after being a part-time starter as a freshman and scored more than 1,000 points. Rountree-Garcia posted two high finishes at Thursday’s Southeast Kansas League track meet, winning the long jump and taking second in the triple jump. Cassville goalie signs with Crowder Anthony Larson, who helped Cassville to a fourth-place finish last fall in the state tournament, will continue his soccer career at Crowder College. Larson finished the season with six shutouts and 106 total saves. He was named district and regional goalie of the year.
