The Warriors knocked off host Sarcoxie 15-4 in five innings in the semifinal round, advancing to the championship game today against Ozark 7 Conference opponent Purdy.

SARCOXIE, Mo. — McAuley Catholic pulled its second straight upset Wednesday in the Class 2 District 10 baseball tournament.
The Warriors knocked off host Sarcoxie 15-4 in five innings in the semifinal round, advancing to the championship game today against Ozark 7 Conference opponent Purdy.
Third-seeded Purdy advanced to the title round with a 6-4 upset of second-rated Lamar.
McAuley and Purdy will clash at 5 p.m. for the right to advance to the state tournament.
McAuley, which knocked off top-seeded Pierce City in the first round, broke open a 4-2 game with nine runs in the fourth inning Wednesday against Sarcoxie.
Winning pitcher Kevin O’Keefe highlighted the rally with a three-run homer on the first pitch after Sarcoxie coach Phil Lewis went to the bullpen.
Jerome Davis added a pair of hits for the Warriors, including a double, and No. 9 hitter Rocky Spry had a pair of singles.
Sam Edwards had two of Sarcoxie’s hits.
Sarcoxie, which tripped Diamond in the opening round, was seeded fifth in the district. McAuley had the No. 8 seed.
Purdy followed a similar big-inning approach to beat Lamar, scoring all six of its runs in the third inning. Ryan Veith had the big hit for the Eagles, a two-run double. Chris Bennett capped the big inning with an RBI single.
Mason Roller and Derek Dailey shared pitching duties for the Eagles, with Dailey working the final three innings to preserve the lead.
Colton Higgins sparked the Lamar offense with a home run and Josh Timmons added a double.
