Missy Little and the Briarbrook team wrapped up Joplin Women’s City Golf Championship first-place honors on Sunday afternoon at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club.
Little, who moved atop the leaderboard in the third round, closed with an 85 on her home course for a 63-hole total of 294. Little’s previous three scores were a 43 on the front nine at Schifferdecker Municipal Golf Course (the back nine was washed out), an 87 at Briarbrook Golf and Country Club and 79 at Eagle Creek Golf Course.
Deb McFarland of Briarbrook shot an 82 for Sunday’s low round and climbed into second place at 296, one shot ahead of Linda Ballard of Twin Hills, who closed with an 86.
Jo Poyzer of Schifferdecker placed fourth with 93-311, and Briarbrook’s Jennifer Fagan and Leigh Ann Hackney tied for fifth at 316 after final rounds of 84 and 88, respectively.
Completing the top 10 were Briarbrook’s Tammy Thomas with 88-319, Eagle Creek’s Beth Parmley 94-319 and Schifferdecker’s Becky Bruder 96-329 and Debbie Jungles 94-335.
Briarbrook, the team leader throughout the tournament, finished with a 1233 total, followed by Schifferdecker with 1259 and Twin Hills with 1301. Eagle Creek did not have the minimum four players on Sunday needed to post a team score.
