Miners to resumeplay at Pittsburg
The Joplin Miners, their home doubleheader against the Grove American Legion baseball team rained out on Monday night, resume Wednesday at Pittsburg.
The varsity twinbill — games of seven and five innings, respectively — against Post 64 will start at 6 p.m.
Tucker Hagedorn’s Miners take a 7-4 overall record into Wednesday’s games.
“We plan to use several pitchers (against Pittsburg) to prepare for our tournament that starts on Thursday,” Hagedorn said.
The Miners, in their 14-7 loss to Bartlesville (Okla.) on Sunday, received two hits — both doubles — and two RBI from Devon Meyer. Marco Maturino, who scored two runs, and Dane Kolkmeyer added two hits apiece.
The opening schedule Thursday in the fifth annual Roper/Joplin Sports Authority Classic (a four-pool, 12-team affair) will be played at two sites.
