CAMDENTON, Mo. — Andrew Maier, who graduated last month from Webb City High School, lost his quarterfinal match Friday moning in the Missouri Golf Association Junior Match Play Championship.
Maier bowed to Wilson Sundvold of Columbia 6 and 5 in their match at Lake Valley Golf and Country Club. Sundvold lost his semifinal match to Chris Martin of Rolla 3 and 2 on Friday afternoon.
Today’s 36-hole championship match pits Martin against Adam Sterling of Springfield. Sterling ousted another southwest Missouri entry — Ben Hogan of Ozark — 4 and 3 in the other semifinal.
Like the semis, none of the quarterfinal matches reached the 18th hole.
Martin beat David Bailey of Springfield 4 and 3, Hogan downed Jonathan Fulp of Springfield 3 and 2, and Sterling defeated Jacob Burkholder of Sedalia 5 and 4.
