CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — The Joplin Miners were battling Nevada late Thursday night in a losers’ bracket baseball game of the Missouri District 15 AA Tournament.
Neosho knocked off third-seeded Joplin 13-5 earlier Thursday to finish the first round.
Carthage pushed across a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to budge McDonald County 12-11 in another first-round game that had been suspended on Wednesday night because of a blown transformer. It was suspended at 9-9 in the fifth.
Today’s winners’ bracket semifinal schedule at Carl Junction High School is favored Carl Junction vs. fourth-seeded Carthage at 5 p.m. and second-seeded Cassville vs. Neosho at 7.
Neosho, which outhit Joplin 11-8, received two hits from Keith Geller. Neosho had three innings of four runs — the fourth, sixth and seventh.
Carthage and McDonald County each garnered four hits in the suspended contest. They each issued 10 walks, however.
Carthage’s Taylor Bogle had two hits.
McDonald County, in eliminating Seneca, received three hits and two RBI from Kolby Henson.
