Carthage opens quest for 11-year-old state title

Carthage begins its quest for the Little League 11-year-old state championship tonight in Joplin.
The four-team, round-robin state tournament runs through Monday night at Sunny Jim Park, 20th and Iowa streets.
LaCoMo East from Concordia, the District 1 winner, faces District 4 champion Daniel Boone National Little League from Columbia in the tournament opener tonight at 6. Carthage, the District 2 winner, meets Twin City Little League from Festus, the District 3 champ, tonight at 8.
Saturday night’s games pit Carthage vs. LaCoMo East at 6 and Daniel Boone National vs. Twin City at 8.
Sunday night’s slate has Twin City vs. LaCoMo East at 6 and Carthage vs. Daniel Boone National at 8.
The teams with the best two records advance to Monday night’s championship game at 6.
