The Joplin Stingrays finished second at last weekend’s Tri-State Conference Championship swimming meet in Claremore, Okla.
The Monett Water Thrashers captured the team crown with 572 points, and Joplin took second with 427.
Pittsburg edged Carthage 260-257 for third place, followed by Siloam Springs 174, Lamar 165, Missouri State Aquatics 109, Parsons 73, Webb City 63, Nevada 49, Branson 15 and Claremore 7.
High-point trophy winners in the two-day meet included Joplin’s Ali Stauffer (15-18 girls) and Liam Holt (11-12 boys).
The previous week Joplin won the conference B Division meet at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark.
The Stingrays scored 428.5 points, followed by Siloam Springs 395, Monett 355, Carthage 181 and Lamar 137. Nevada was sixth with 115.5, and Webb City was eighth with 36.
Three Joplin swimmers won high-point trophies — Josh Wilson (10-under boys), Preston Colasanti (15-18 boys) and Haley Daus (15-18 girls).
An increase in the number of swimmers forced the two championships to be held at different times. In past years the meets were held the same weekend.
The Stingrays will hold their postseason banquet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Memorial Hall.
