Joplin sport mod stock car driver Billy Street is on a roll at Springfield Raceway.
Street made it three A features in succession at the quarter-mile dirt track on Saturday night.
Street, who beat Springfield’s Dallas Scott in the main event, said the streak began after a distributor broke on his race car while leading with just four laps remaining.
“The secret is that dad (Bill Street) is in our shop,” the younger Street said on Monday. “We have the race car working very well.”
Bill Street, of course, is a former standout in the late model division.
Don’t bet against Billy Street making it four in a row this week.
He considers “4” his lucky number (that’s the number on his race car).
Scotty Drake, besting fellow Webb City driver Mitch Keeter, won the modified A feature for the second time this season.
Completing the main event winners were Ken Essary (late model), Jody Tillman (factory stock), Mike Hailmann (bomber) and Taylor Huddleston (hornet).
This week’s “Back to School” show will offer the regular six classes. Grandstand admission is $10 and a pit pass is $25. There is no admission charge, however, for 12-under with a paying adult.
Co-owner Jerry Hoffman reminded that the Andy’s Frozen Custard John Kuntz Memorial — featuring the DLRA/MARS late models — has been reset for Aug. 28.
Monett Speedway
Aurora’s Shane Essary won the late model A feature on Sunday night at the 3/8-mile dirt track.
