NEO shocked at home

MIAMI, Okla. — Arkansas Baptist, getting two touchdowns from cornerback Micah McDonald, shocked Northeastern Oklahoma A&M 21-6 in a junior college football game at Robertson Field on Saturday night.
It was the Golden Norsemen’s second loss this year and their seventh in a row over two seasons. The NEO record is eight.
NEO is idle next week before opening its Southwest Junior College Football Conference schedule against visiting Trinity Valley at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20 at Robertson.
McDonald, a 5-foot-8, 178-pound sophomore, returned a fumble recovery 83 yards with only 36 seconds remaining in the first half for his first touchdown. Late in the third period, McDonald returned an interception 90 yards for his second score.
NEO scored early in the final period on a 9-yard run by Cardell Clemons.
Clemons, a Pittsburg State transfer from Glenpool, Okla., finished with 80 yards on 23 carries. Arkansas Baptist’s Travis George, a 180-pound veteran, rushed for 103 yards.
Arkansas Baptist scored late in the first quarter on Nick Mansfield’s 73-yard pass to Derrill Ziggler.
The Buffaloes (2-0 this season after going 0-9 in their inaugural 2007 campaign) added a safety early in the second period when the ball was snapped through the NEO punter’s hands out of the end zone.
The Buffaloes are currently in their probationary season before becoming a full-fledged member of the SJCFC next season.
