PITTSBURG, Kan. — Nick Whetzell, a St. Mary’s-Colgan senior football player, returned home on Thursday.
Whetzell was life-flighted to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Mo., last Friday night from the Galena High School football field after suffering an apparent stroke. He will start outpatient therapy at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg.
Donations to the family — parents are Kelly and Karen Whetzell of Franklin, Kan. — are being accepted at the Kansas Teachers Community Credit Union, 416 N. Broadway, Pittsburg.
