SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Missouri Southern, paced by Seve Smith’s 1-under-par 143, placed third in the Pasta House Drury Invitational golf tournament that ended Tuesday at Rivercut Golf Course.
Missouri Western, placing four players in the top 20, nipped Truman State 587-589 for team honors. The Lions were next with 593, followed by Arkansas Tech 594 and Northern Kentucky 595.
Smith posted rounds of 72-71 to finish fourth in the individual standings behind Northern Kentucky’s Jeremy Martin (139), Truman State’s Chris Kovach (140) and Arkansas Tech’s Jarred Carlyle (142).
The Lions’ Andy Hogenmiller tied for 10th place with 73-75—148. Other MSSU scores: Adam Nelson 152, Stephen Boyd 156 and David Clark 159. The Lions’ David Eddy and Chris Needham shot 145 and 157, respectively, as individual entries.
The Lions return to action on Oct. 6-7 with an MIAA points tournament at Silo Ridge Golf Course in Bolivar, Mo.

OCC triumphs
Ryan Bentele posted two goals as the Ozark Christian College men’s soccer team beat visiting Calvary Bible 3-1 on Tuesday.
The Ambassadors, 9-5 with four losses to NAIA teams, led 2-0 at the half on goals by Matt Mueller, who was assisted by Kyle Tapper, and Bentele. Mueller’s score occurred less than a minute into the match and Bentele’s came at 24:00.
Bentele, assisted by Jared Poznich, scored at 63:00 to make it 3-0. The Calvary Bible goal, a penalty kick, followed at 65:00.
OCC goalies Ethan Greer, who worked the first half, and Sam McDaniel combined for six saves. OCC led 19-7 in shots.
OCC travels to Waxahachie (Texas) for a 3 p.m. match on Friday against Southwestern Assemblies of God.
