Two mixed martial arts events — one professional and one amateur — are scheduled for Saturday night in Joplin.
The Brawl at the Hall-2, an Xtreme Cage Fighting event and the third major MMA pro card to come to the Joplin area, will have a 12-bout card at Memorial Hall. Games open at 6 p.m., and the first fight it at 7:30. Tickets range from $15 to $50.
Weigh-ins will be held at noon Saturday at Bordertown Casino in Seneca and are open to the public.
Seventeen fights are scheduled in the Cage of Honor 27, an amateur event at the Holiday Inn Convention Center (formerly John Q. Hammons Trade Center).
Doors open at 6, and fights start at 7:30. Ticket prices start at $10.
While he won’t be in action, Frank Mir, former Ultimate Fighting Championship world heavyweight champion and current coach of the Ultimate Fighter television show, will be at Memorial Hall to sign autographs.
The 12 fights at Brawl at the Hall-2 are a mixture of pro and amateur bouts and have attracted fighters from five states.
“We are going the extra steps the bring in top fighters and now a UFC champion to separate us from all the other organizations that try and promote events in the region,” said Doug Bland, Brawl at the Hall-2 promoter.
Headlining the card is an XCF professional light heavyweight championship bout between Mike Glenn and John Ott.
Other pro bouts pit Shad Lankford vs. Jacob Ritchie in bantamweight and David Myers vs. Tom Aaron in welterweight.
Three amateur title fights pair featherweights William Morgan vs. Joseph Salas, middleweights Antwon Williams vs. Casey Stillman and heavyweights Rob Haney vs. Brenton Garrett.
The card at the Cage of Honor 27 includes three title fights — heavyweight, light heavyweight and welterweight.
