Crowder, Labette roll in basketball classic

NEOSHO, Mo. — Crowder, hiking its record to 3-0, defeated Rend Lake (Ill.) 92-65 in the Lady ’Rider Classic on Saturday.
Labette spanked Meramec 92-54 in the opening contest.
Crowder, a 47-34 leader at the half, received 18 points apiece from Sierra McSpadden and Khyrstyn Brumley. Kallie Flood had four 3s in scoring 14 and Jaimee Shields 10.
Said Crowder coach Tina Robbins: “We played very well on offense. Our execution was improved. Defensively, we’re getting there. Overall, they played with great effort.”
Rend Lake was paced by Cierra Dotson’s 17 points and Kelia Spurling’s 15.
Labette, which led 46-32 at halftime, received 20 points from Jasmine Smith and 17 from Satoria Bell. Ashton Whitehurst tallied 13 for Rend Lake.
Two losses for Cottey
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Comets shot poorly from the field for the second game in a row in losing 73-41 to Johnson County in the Kansas City Kansas Keith Lindsay Classic.
KCK hurdled Cottey 67-44 on Friday night.
Cottey shot 25.5 percent from the field on Saturday and 24 percent on Friday night.
Cottey, against Johnson County, got 18 points from Bailey Beale and 12 from Tessa Porter. But the Comets were outrebounded 53-31 in addition to the poor shooting.
Cottey, against KCK, had only one double-figure scorer in Natascha Lord with 12.
The Comets’ Alex Noble had eight rebounds against KCK and nine against Johnson County.
