Injured prep player
goes to K.C. hospital
Jesse Wood, the Lee’s Summit North player who collapsed on Junge Field on Friday night, was transferred to St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City on Monday, Broncos coach Harold Wambsgans said in an e-mail.
Wood collapsed without contact on the play, went into cardiac arrest and trainers and doctors used CPR and a defibrillator to revive him. He had been in Freeman Hospital West in fair condition Joplin since that night.

Brock to redshirt
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Mount Vernon product Tomas Brock is among three Missouri State freshmen that have elected to sit out the 2007-08 basketball season as redshirts and will retain their first year of eligibility.
Joining Brock, a guard, are forwards David Cline of Springdale (Ark.) Shiloh Christian Academy and Kyle Weems of Topeka (Kan.) Highland Park.
The Bears begin the regular season on Saturday at the University of Toledo.
