NEOSHO, Mo. — Crowder College lost another close basketball game in its Classic on Saturday.
The Lady ’Riders lost to Labette Community College of Parsons 79-74 after a 68-64 loss to Cowley County (Kan.) on Friday night.
Cowley County, expanding a 21-19 halftime lead, opened the Saturday schedule by beating Lincoln Trail (Ill.) 66-47.
Crowder, in its loss to Labette, got 19 points from Afton Baldwin (who had four 3s), 17 from Jessica Mitchell and 10 from Kallie Flood.
Labette, which led 39-31 at the half, got 20 points from Ayriell Robinson, 18 from Lauren Andrews and 17 from Samantha Ludwig.
Crowder sank just 16-of-29 from the foul line. Baldwin and Mitchell also combined for 11 rebounds and Melanie Bowers had four assists.
Cowley County was paced in scoring by Shirolacille Holloway (20) and Gabrielle Curtis (19). Raven Brooks tallied 20 for Lincoln Trail.
Crowder, 1-5, will resume at 7 p.m. Friday in Dallas against Mountain View College.
Norse prevail
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Northeastern Oklahoma A&M hiked its men’s basketball record to 4-3 Saturday with a 71-63 win against the Mid-America Christian University junior varsity.
Phillipe Martin scored 15 points to lead NEO, which held a 31-19 advantage at halftime.
Gabriele Mason topped the host squad (3-5) with 16 points.
NEO will be host to Seminole State on Monday, with the women to begin play at 6 p.m. and the men at 8.
