Joplin faces Har-Ber
in Lady Eagle Classic
Joplin High School plays second-seeded Har-Ber from Springdale (Ark.) at 8:30 p.m. Thurday in the final first-round game of the 11th annual Freeman-Lady Eagle Classic at Kaminsky Gymnasium.
Webb City, tne No. 3 seed, plays Blue Valley West (Kan.) at 7.
Other first-round matchups pit top-seeded Marshfield vs. Parkview at 4 and No. 4 Harrison (Ark.) vs. Leavenworth (Kan.) at 5:30.
Second-round games will be played Friday, starting at 4 and highlighted by semifinal games at 7 and 8:30. The finals session on Saturday begins with the seventh-place game at 2:30.
Volleyball ballots
need to be returned
Final selection of The Joplin Globe’s all-district volleyball team has been delayed pending the arrival of additional ballots.
Less than half of the ballots sent out to southwest Missouri schools have been returned. Coaches who haven’t returned ballots should fax them to (417) 623-8598 or submit their choices by e-mail to sports@joplinglobe.com.
Mechanics test set
for JBOA meeting
The basketball officials’ mechanics test, mandated by the MSHSAA, will be adminstered during the Joplin Basketball Officials Association meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Webster Hall on the Missouri Southern campus.
JBOA trainer Craig Lynch and John Roberson are the speakers.
