TONKAWA, Okla. — Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa’s apparent game-tying shot was ruled a 2-pointer, and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M escaped with a 62-61 victory Monday night in junior college men’s basketball action.
The Lady Norse rolled to a 76-53 victory in the preliminary game.
NEO’s Jamere King hit a 3-point goal with three seconds left to snap a 59-59 deadlock. Northern Oklahoma got the ball upcourt and Geoff McIntosh hit a basket at the buzzer, but the officials ruled he was not completely beyond the 3-point arc.
Chase Elliott scored 13 points to lead a balanced Golden Norsemen attack, and Phillipe Martin and Raphael Brown had 12 and 11 points, respectively, for NEO (9-3, 4-1 Bi-State Athletic Conference).
Sterling Jackson tallied 19 points and McIntosh had 12 for Tonkawa (6-5, 2-2).
Skye Rees poured in 26 points for the Lady Norse, who led 31-16 at haftime. Megan Fraley added 13 points for NEO (10-2, 4-0).
Korie Hargis had 11 points for Tonkawa (3-11, 1-3).
NEO’s teams play their final home game of the first semester on Wednesday night against Northern Oklahoma-Enid. The women’s game tips off at 6.
Crowder gets No. 3
NEOSHO, Mo. — Solid defense helped Crowder College pick up its third win Monday, a 66-61 overtime victory against visiting Penn Valley.
Crowder stormed out to a 15 point lead just 10 minutes into the game, but Penn Valley took a 39-35 at halftime.
The score was tied at 59-all at the end of regulation. In the extra period Crowder’s defense held Penn Valley to two points.
“It wasn’t a pretty win, but we’ll definitely take it.” Robbins said.
