Carthage USRA modified stock car driver Jackie Dalton continued on a roll on Saturday night at Springfield Raceway.
Dalton bested Webb City’s Mitch Keeter to remain No. 1 in the points standings with just two shows left in the 2012 Transport Graphics Championship Chase.
Defending champion Dalton, who’s seeking a sixth title at Springfield Raceway, won for the fifth time this season. Dalton took the lead for good on lap No. 11.
Keeter, the runner-up (trailing by 17 entering the program) and the 2010 champion, remained in the points chase.
Ironically, those drivers trailing Keeter on Saturday night make up the top six in points — Joplin’s John Yeoman, Oronogo’s Bobby Pearish, Lampe’s Jerry Lankton (who started 16th) and Sparta’s Rob Muilenburg.
Keeter pulled within three car lengths of Dalton in the closing laps, according to race director Ronnie Williams.
Yeoman and Pierce City’s Brian Green won the heat races. The redraw placed Keeter on the pole and Dalton eighth.
The Drakes — dad Scott and son Trevor — won main events in USRA B modified and Midwest Modz, respectively, to maintain their No. 1 standing in points.
Also, Justin Comer, Joplin, triumphed in the Legends Cars A feature to increase his lead.
Completing the main event winners were Ava’s Jack Hamer (pure stock), Branson’s Bryan Tillman (street stock) and Nixa’s Wesley Smith (Legends Young Lions).
Hamer, defending champion, entered trailing Miami’s Brett Testerman by 22 points. Testerman, whose race car exited with a broken axle, finished sixth in the main event. Hamer defeated Miami’s Mitch Hemphill.
The points chase on the quarter-mile dirt track continues at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

For Carl Junction girls soccer coach Kevin Hauck, the ending of the Bulldogs’ 3-2 win over Republic on Wednesday was worthy of a movie script.
