CARTHAGE, Mo. —
Jon Woodcock pitched a seven-inning one-hitter in Joplin’s 8-0 victory Saturday against Ozark in the first game of a MINK League doubleheader at Carl Lewton Stadium.
Joplin won the second game 2-1 in eight innings behind the three-hit pitching of Hasten Freeman.
Woodcock, a left-hander, walked four and struck out three. The Outlaws broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth.
Designated hitter Griffen Glaude went 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Justin Treece and Conor Smith each went 2-for-4.
In the second game, Joplin, which outhit the Generals 9-3, scored the winning run in the top of the eighth inning.
Freeman pitched a complete game, walked two and struck out seven. Zack Steadman was 2-for-4 and scored a run, and Glaude, who played second base, was 1-for-2 and drove in two runs.
In Friday’s game between the two teams, Ozark defeated the Outlaws 6-3.
Ethan Mather was the starter and losing pitcher for Joplin. Bobby Bryan pitched four innings of one-hit relief. Kyle Dickens led the Outlaws at the plate with a 2-for-4 night.
The Outlaws return home for a doubleheader against St. Joseph at 6 p.m. Monday at Wendell Redden Stadium.
