Missouri Southern will be looking inside today when it plays Livin’ The Dream in a women’s basketball exhibition game.
Tipoff is at 1 at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
During the Lions’ 20-minute intrasquad scrimmage Thursday night, one thing that coach Maryann Mitts pointed out was the inside players did not get enough scoring opportunities.
“I know our posts have to touch the ball more,” Mitts said. “Shonte Clay (6-foot-2 junior) needs to touch the ball a lot more. Dominique Mosley (6-1 junior) needs to touch the ball a lot more. I think sometimes it’s just so hard for our guards, especially under pressure, to see those people.”
Naturally with 11 new players on the roster, there is a lot of teaching during the preseason.
“But our learning curve has been fast,” Mitts said. “We have our continuity offense already in. We probably have 20 sets in, six out-of-bounds plays in. Our kids are grasping what we’re teaching them.”
Today is the first of two exhibition games for the Lions. They play next Friday at the University of San Francisco.
