Bridges hits first homer as a pro

TAMPA, Fla. — Drew Bridges hit his first home run as a professional during a 2-for-4 performance against the Pittsburgh Pirates’ rookie team on Friday in Tampa, Fla.

Bridges, a 2013 Carthage High School graduate, helped the New York Yankees rookie team beat the Pirates 6-5 Friday in the Gulf Coast League. Bridges scored two runs and recorded two RBI in the game.

He is hitting .148 with one double and one home run after nine pro games. Bridges has been used at third base, first base and designated hitter.

Bridges was a 20th round pick by the New York Yankees in the 2013 MLB draft this past June.
