Golden Norse clinch juco championship

SPOKANE, Wash. — Northeastern Oklahoma A&M clinched a national championship at the NJCAA wrestling tournament on Saturday at Spokane, Wash.

With the tournament still going Saturday night, the Golden Norsemen led with 165 points. Second-place Northwest College (Wyoming) had 149 points.

NEO captured a national title in its first year since resurrecting the wrestling program after a 20-year absence. Determined for instant success, NEO hired Joe Renfro, who directed Labette Community College to three national championships, to direct the wrestling program.

Four NEO wrestlers advanced to the finals.
