Wentworth Military trims OCC women

— Superior shooting and rebounding carried visiting Wentworth Military past Ozark Christian 72-59 in a women’s basketball game on Monday night.

The Red Dragons shot 38.6 percent from the field and led 49-40 on the boards to negate OCC’s 17-for-21 accuracy from the foul line. OCC shot 27.1 percent from the floor.

Wentworth, Lexington, Mo., received 20 points from Daryus Franklin,19 from Carmen DePano and 14 from Jerea Brice. Ashlee Cole snagged 14 rebounds and Brice 10.

The Ambassadors, who trailed 39-28 at intermission, were paced by Tesia Lahm (14 points, 10 rebounds), Sarah Rhodes (19 points, 12 boards) and Addy Wood (10 rebounds). Rhodes sank all six of her free throws.

Brice sank 6 of 12 from the field and added four assists for Wentworth.

Wentworth led 20-19 in turnovers. Wentworth hit four of 14 treys to only 4 of 23 by the Ambassadors.
