The Sedalia Bombers used a seven-run second inning to drop the Joplin Outlaws 11-2 in a MINK League game Thursday night at Liberty Park Stadium.
Sedalia’s Zach Weigel, of Seaton Hall, and Tony Sandifer, of Crowder, opened the bottom of the second with consecutive doubles. The Bombers finished the inning with five hits and four walks off Outlaws pitcher Zach Barton.
Sedalia added two runs in the sixth and two in the eighth for the convincing victory.
Weigel and Ty White led the Sedalia attack as each went 2-for-3 at the plate. Sandifer was 1-for-5 with four RBI.
Trevor Richards, of Drury, earned the win, allowing only two hits and one run over seven innings. Richards struck out eight while walking one. The Outlaws finished the game with only three hits with two coming from Ryan Rippee, of Jefferson College. Rippee was 2-for-3, while Matt Turner was 1-for-3 with one run scored.
Barton recorded the loss, allowing seven runs off six hits and five walks over four innings.
Joplin’s record dropped to 11-13 overall and 9-13 in the league. The Outlaws travel to face Rossville for a single game at 7 p.m. today.
