Hall powers Drury past South Carolina-Aiken

Kickapoo High School product Alex Hall fired in 33 points to lead No. 7-ranked Drury past No. 20 South Carolina-Aiken 84-75 Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Elite Eight at Freedom Hall.

The Panthers (29-4) extended their winning streak to 21 games and moved into a semifinal game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against defending champion Western Washington, a 96-82 winner over Florida Southern. Western Washington beat the Panthers 72-69 on Dec. 18 in Las Vegas.

Hall tallied 18 points to lead the Panthers to a 42-36 halftime lead. He finished 8-of-15 from the floor, 5-of-9 from 3-point range and 12-of-12 at the foul line.

Brandon Lockhart added 15 points for the Panthers, and Teddy Simmiok, who was 7-of-7 from the field, and Cameron Adams each added 14.

Ronald Zimmerman made half of S.C.-Aiken’s 12 treys and finished with 20 points. Re’mon Nelson had 16 points and DeVontae Wright 10 for S.C.-Aiken (25-8).
