Jeremy Lynn reaches finals of USTA National Open

DENVER — Joplin’s Jeremy Lynn is in the finals of the boys 18 singles in the USTA National Open at the Gates Tennis Center.

Lynn, unseeded, will face top-seeded Jordan Daigle of Lafayette (La.) at 8 a.m. today.

William Little, a sophomore at College Heights Christian, finished 2-2 in the tournament.

Lynn, who was fifth in singles in Class 2 as a junior at Joplin High School, defeated second-seeded Nicholas Naumann 7-6 (3), 4-2 (retired, injury) in the semifinals on Tuesday. Naumann, from The Woodlands, Texas, is headed for the University of Texas.

Lynn, earlier Tuesday, beat Strong Kirchheimer, Cary, N.C., 6-3, 6-3.

Lynn, on Monday, opened with a 6-1, 6-1 win against fifth-seeded Maxwell Macey, Weston, Conn., and then posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Jeremy Bush of Long Grove, Ill.

Daigle sent Little into the consolation round with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory.

But Little bounced back to eliminate Conrad Harron of Chicago, 6-1, 4-0 (retired, injury). and Jackson Murphy of Odessa, Fla., 6-1, 6-2 before losing 6-4, 0-6, 10-8 to Tony Kostadinov of La Grange, Ill.
