Brandon Williams signs four-year contract with Ravens

On the same day the Baltimore Ravens received their Super Bowl XLVII rings, Brandon Williams signed with the Ravens.

Williams, three-time All-American defensive tackle from Missouri Southern, signed a four-year contract Friday reportedly worth $2.697 million, according to The Baltimore Sun. Williams also received a $515,000 signing bonus.

Williams, 6-foot-1, 335 pounds, was taken late in the third round — pick No. 94 — by the Ravens in April. He is expected to compete for the starting job at nose tackle.

Williams became the earliest a player from Missouri Southern to be taken in the draft, going one round sooner than offensive lineman Allen Barbre in 2007. Williams also was the first NCAA Division II player taken in this year’s draft.

Williams was named to five All-America teams last season and was selected national defensive player of the year by two organizations. He also was the MIAA’s defensive player of the year.

Williams registered 31 solo and 68 total tackles for the Lions his senior year, including 16.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and 8.5 quarterback sacks.

During the year he became the Lions’ career leader with 27 quarterback sacks.

With Williams signing, the Ravens have now signed nine of their 10 draft choices. Safety Matt Elam, the first-round pick, is the only unsigned draft pick.
